Basic Christian Doctrine I
Course Objective: To gain a comprehensive knowledge of the fundemental doctrines of the faith and articulate them from the Scriptures.
Course work: Students will memorize and be orally examined in the Westminster Shorter Catechism, write a 4-5 page essay on a given doctrine, complete readings and assignments, interact with course material, undergo written or oral exams. Materials & Texts: The Westminster Shorter Catechism; Manuel of Christian Doctrine, Louis Berkof Course Description: Topics to be covered in the 14 week study will include... 1. The Bible (The nature of revelation, inspiration and authority, the perfections of Scripture) 2. God (His existance, the Trinity, the attributes and works of God) 3. Man 4. Christ (His person and Work) 5. The Holy Spirit (His person and Work) Level: Class is offered to Jr. and Sr. High students. NOTE: This class may also be used as a writing course where students must complete weekly writing assignments. |
