Help Us Kindle the Richland County Prison!

                        Picture
For the last several years prisoners in the Richland Correctional Institution have been undergoing heavy discipleship.  Joe Magellet started the ministry as part of his Fellowship of Christian Athletes program that he leads atthe Ashland University campus.  He and some of his FCA students would go into the prison each wednesday to lead Bible studies.

Over the years the Bible study has grown to include over 60 prisoners and has helped to convert and grow these men in the faith.  The growth has been so prevelant that many of these men are desiring further training in the gospel and want to probe the possibility of being called to serve the Lord in the ministry when released.

The passion these men have for the study of God's Word has blossomed to the point where select applicants will have the opportunity to take seminary level courses.  The Urban Ministry Institute has partnered with Prison Fellowship to provide a base curriculumn for the men's study.

What we now need is a teacher, and this is where you can help!  Matt has been chosen to teach these courses.  To make this possible we are looking for 50 people to partner with us through donations of either $10, $20, or $30 a month.

Should you choose to do so, you can rest assured that your contributions will be handled with the utmost integrity and accountability.  Not only will 100% of your donation go to support this ministry, but it will be collected and distributed by the treasurer of the Ohio Presbytery.  What's more, Matt himself will be under the oversight of the prison ministry's board of directors, the leadership of Providence Church and the elders and ministers of the Ohio Presbytery.  All this guarentees that your donation will be rightly handled and that the men who qualify for the classes will recieve the best possible training.

If you are interested in helping to further equip of these men, you can make a check out to The Ohio Presbytery with RiCI Prison Ministry in the memo, and mail it to:
